Cross Docking

Cross Docking is a logistical technique in which incoming goods are unloaded from transport vehicles and immediately directed to another vehicle, without the need for prior storage in a warehouse.

The benefits of the cross docking service include a reduction in storage costs, less need for physical space and a reduction in the cycle time between receipt and delivery of goods. In addition, it contributes to optimizing the efficiency of the supply chain, increasing the speed with which products are distributed to customers.

The process starts with receiving goods from different suppliers or from different locations within a company. Goods are unloaded from trucks and moved to the cross-docking area.

The goods received are then sorted and classified according to their final destination. This can be based on customer, location or other relevant criteria.

The goods are then loaded onto transport vehicles, such as trucks or containers, depending on the final destination. The aim is to minimize the time goods spend at the docks and ensure a fast and efficient transfer.

Transport vehicles depart for their final destinations as soon as they are fully loaded. The tracking and management of the shipment is carried out to ensure that the goods arrive at their destinations correctly and within the established deadlines.
