Efficiency in the last mile service is essential to ensure customer satisfaction, as it is the most direct and visible point of contact between the carrier and the recipient. This involves optimizing delivery routes, managing time and effectively coordinating resources such as vehicles and delivery teams.

In this step, delivery routes are efficiently planned to optimize vehicle use and minimize travel times. Routing algorithms are used to determine the best sequence of stops and allocate the appropriate vehicles for each route.

Before starting delivery, orders are collected from the warehouse or distribution center and prepared for transport. This involves sorting products into individual orders and packaging the items properly.

Vehicles are shipped to designated delivery locations. Drivers follow the planned routes and deliver to customers, whether in homes or businesses. This could involve interacting directly with the customer, obtaining signatures or confirming delivery via mobile devices.

In some cases, during the last mile, it may also be necessary to handle product returns. This involves collecting returned items from customers and putting them back into the proper return flow.
